Joey Nania Ranked 26th in Southern Opens (18th after Elite Angler drop outs) Finishes 69th out of 204 Pros in #2 of 3 events Plus Joey and Partner Zeke Gossett make Top 20 again in Sylacauga Big Bucks Circuit

Cropwell, Alabama;  April 22, 2015; Joey Nania currently sits in 26th overall in the Bassmaster Southern Open Series after 2 of 3 events.  Based on overall rankings, eliminating existing Elite anglers Joey is ranked 18th putting him “in the hunt” for Bassmaster Elite qualification. The final event occurs October 22-24 on Lake Seminole in Georgia. Joey comments, “That will be another new body of water but that is what it is all about, figuring things out quickly and making adjustment to conditions.” He continues, “The Alabama River event was tough for a lot of us so finishing in the top third is ok but I had hoped to do a little better than that.  But, I am ok and still in the running overall.”


After the Open event Joey headed to Lay Lake for the 3rdevent of the Sylacauga Marine Big Bucks Buddy Circuit.  Although final places have yet to be published Joey and partner Zeke Gossett had over 16 pounds and figure their finish to be in the top 20.  Based on points they are positioned very well in the top 15 of all teams with an eye on making the championship finals in the fall.  Winner goes on to the Bassmaster Team championships.  “We did good”, Joey said, “and are in a great position to make some solid finishes for the remainder of the season.” 


Up next, Alabama Bass Trail event April 9th on Joey’s home lake, Logan Martin. Joey and partner Will Butler sit in 25thout of 206 teams with two more events in the 5 event series.  The next event is on Logan Martin Lake.  “To say the least, I am fired up about that one!” commented Joey.  Top prize for the ABT is $10,000 plus obvious bonus bucks from the Bass Pro Shops tournament Rewards program and other incentives.  Top teams in this circuit also qualify for the Bassmaster Team Championship and a shot at a Bassmaster Classic berth. 


Joey concluded, “I am feeling great about the season so far and looking forward to the upcoming tournaments.”
