Joey Nania Sitting in 12th (of 142) after Bassmaster Open #3 Day 1 Lake Norman – North Carolina

Lake Norman, NC – October 2, 2014 – with the help of a nice 3-9 largemouth to round out his bag Joey Nania is sitting in 12th place at the third Bassmaster Southern Open event on LakeNorman.  Joey weighed in first and watched as his weight of 11 lbs. 10 ounces held up well against the star studded field of 142 professional anglers including over 20 Bassmaster Elite Pros,

“I was running and gunning,” said Joey “I caught fish on a variety of baits and had a decent limit by mid morning.  Then I just kept fishing hard.”  LakeNorman presents interesting challenges because it is loaded with spotted bass and the larger large mouth are fewer and farther between, but really help an anglers bag.

Leading the tournament after day one is David Williams with 14-1.  Weigh in for day two is today live on bassmaster.com beginning at 3 pm EST.  Joey weighs in around 5 pm as he was early boat out day one so late boat out day two.  Joey commented on his draw, “I like the way the draw set up for me since I wanted to get on the early bite day one and feel like a longer day on day two will work for me as well.”
