2014 Pro Season On the Go! On the Water - Tournaments on the Upswing On the Road - Promoting Fishing and Fun!

Utica, New York – March 1, 2014; The professional fishing season for Joey Nania – Pro Bass Angler has been a busy one so far.  Currently Joey is on tour as part of the Bass Pro Shops – Nitro Boats – National Team doing seminars and meet-n-greets for their annual Spring Fishing Classic in Harrisburg, PA – Utica and Syracuse, New York.  Joey is traveling with pro fishing friend Gene Ellison and fellow pro anglers Jason Williamson and Keith Kavajecz.  The tour runs through Sunday March 2.  In spite of cold weather the crowds have been great.  (check out some great photos from the stores on this tour.

Last weekend Joey spent working for sponsors at the Bassmaster Classic Outdoor Expo.  One of the best attended Classics ever and another of Joey’s traveling partners, Randy Howell, won the whole thing.  “I am really excited for Randy and his family.  We have grown to be great friends and like everyone says he really deserved this win.”  Joey continued, “Not only did he deserve it, he earned it by staying calm, putting in his work and keeping the faith.”

Joey’s tournament season is gradually improving.  After a less than satisfactory start at the first BASS Southern Open on Toho (151st out of 200) Joey improved a bit with partner Will Butler, placing 65th out of 200 boats on Guntersville in the inaugural North Division event.  Following that tournament Joey entered the first event of the season in the Sylacauga Big Bucks Buddy Series. Joey and fishing partner Warren Hoffman placed 6th overall to get a nice check and qualified for Bass Pro Shops tournament rewards as the highest placing Nitro owner in the 64 boat field.  Both the Sylacauga series and the Alabama Bass Trail are new roads to get into the running for a classic berth in 2015.

Joey commented, “It felt good to get a check!  These Alabama anglers are really good and very knowledgeable on their home waters.  Both of these buddy trails are a good learning experience and I think I can compete effectively.”

Next up, immediately following the Bass Pro Shops Spring Fishing Classic tour Joey will head to Jasper, Alabama to start official practice for the BASS Southern Opens #2 on SmithLake.  About the tournament, “I want it cold and nasty for that one.  I know I have been living in Alabamafor the last couple of years but I still have a set of 'thick skins’ that I can put on and I am used to fishing in cold weather.  I am excited about this next tournament!”

Enjoy and please let Joey know if you have any corporate clients who would like and excellent guide on any of the lakes in the Coosasystem.  Guided trips have been great this season!
