Joey Nania Solid Day One on Douglas Lake Bassmaster Southern Open #2 – Tied for 12th in 180 Angler Field

Sings National Anthem to Open the Day

Dandridge, Tennessee – April 4, 2013;  Joey had a solid day on Douglas Lake weighing in 18 lb 2 oz of largemouth fishing in brutal weather conditions of 20-30 mile per hour winds, cold temperatures and steady rain. His bag tied him in 12th place with Stephen Longobardi going into day two on Friday. Leading the tournament after day one was Shane Lineberger who weighed in an impressive 24-6 bag leading the competition by 15 oz over Terry Seagraves.

Joey on the day, “I felt really good and centered in practice and carried that through to my fishing today.  I only had 6 bites and caught all of them, but I still felt good about what I was doing and am looking forward to day two. The areas I thought would be best got blown out a little by the wind today so maybe they will set up again for day two.”  Joey sent out an online greeting to his wife Jessica who is about 2 weeks away from the projected due date for their first baby. She is trying her best to remain calm during the tournament!

Once again Joey had the opportunity to deliver a morning prayer and sing the national anthem for the 360 angler field, BASS officials and spectators. “I love doing that; it gets me charged up for the day and is a real honor.”

Day two launch is scheduled for first light with live weigh in and leader board coverage at www.bassmaster.com.
