Learning and Contributing - Classic Outdoor Expo - Central Open #1 and Wounded Warriors Benefit Tournament

Bassmaster Classic Expo - and B.A.S.S. Streaming Video Interview

Joey reports a busy time at the Bassmaster Classic and did his best to work with the great sponsors who had displays at the show.  The Expo was really well attended and to cap it off, Stacy Twiggs of BASS interviewed Joey, Elite Series Pro Bradley Roy and Two Time National Casting Champ Jonny Schultz from the BASS booth live on streaming video.  The interview went about 20 minutes and focused on the three as the future of the sport and representatives of the BASS tournament angling system.

Tough Bite on Lake Lewisville

Lewisville, Texas - The North Texas bass continue to be illusive!  Many anglers reported a less than successful pre-fish as the bass had been hammered by 19 degree temperatures in recent weeks.  Joey's pre-fish wasn't any different encountering water temperatures in the low 40's, finally warming into the 50's.

Once the tournament rolled around last weekend the successful anglers found fish in the coldest of waters, mid 40's, and utilized end of winter tactics with jerk baits.  Mark Tucker caught all but one of his winning fish on a suspended jerk bait.  Joey focused on warmer pockets in the many nooks and crannies of Lewisville.

Joey was certainly hoping to do better in the first tournament of the year - but as always - looks at it as another learning experience as a young professional angler.

Wounded Warriors Tournament and Bass Pro Shops Weigh-in (Prior to final Central Open Weigh-in)

Joey and 7 other pro anglers that didn't make the cut volunteered their time to fish in the Wounded Warriors event to benefit wounded veterans on Grapevine Lake.  Joey fished with Aaron Cahill of Biloxi, MS and Bertin Esteves III of Araby, LA.  They found success on Grapevine Lake bringing in about a 10 pound bag good enough for third place in the "for fun" tournament. "It was a great experience today.  I really enjoyed getting to know these guys and like always when fishing we become friends for life."

What's Next for Joey?

Joey has moved into a cabin on the shores of Logan Martin Lake.  This will be his home base for the remainder of the tournament season - making the commute much more reasonable to tournament venues for the Central Opens and the PAA.

The next tournament is the PAA #1 on Lake Lanier.  The off limits and no information rule begins today.
